Do you want to take Band Honors? In the ninth episode of “So You Want to Take _____” series of Tenafly Soundbooth, Joanna talks with Mr. Jacobetz and student Jennifer Kim (’26) about the music elective that is comprised of marching band, which has won multiple state titles and one national title, and concert band. Students may take it all four years and receive a varsity letter of every year that they take it. In the episode, interviewees discuss everything from marching band judging to the music selections of concert band. Did they mention a biennial Disney Trip? Offering a transparent view to a Band Honors student’s daily experience, the series hopes to help students decide whether they really want to take the class.
Tenafly Soundbooth is a student-run podcast aiming to provide transparent and consultable media for Tenafly students. Many students find course selection meetings overwhelming, often turning to friends for advice on classes and teachers. However, for new students or introverts, this method isn’t always possible. Tenafly Soundbooth will fill this gap by offering a structured platform where students can hear firsthand experiences about courses, clubs, sports, and other school activities. Created by Joanna Cheng and cohosted by her and Jehee Nam, it can be found on Instagram and Spotify as well in an attempt to reach the goal of accessibility to all students.
