During its Apple event on October 13th, the tech giant unveiled its newest line of products. On that day, the long-awaited iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12, Homepod Mini, and MagSafe accessories were officially showcased.

Homepod Mini

The first new product that Apple decided to showcase in the October event was the new Homepod Mini. Tim Cook stated that it is an “exciting new product for home.” The Homepod Mini is a smart speaker that is surrounded by fabric and has an amazing speaker quality. Not only is the new Homepod Mini connected with Siri, but it can also be connected to your entire family’s devices so that communication can run much smoother. Finally, the Homepod Mini is able to control the house to make it secure and comfortable.

iPhone 12

Perhaps the most anticipated Apple product, the iPhone 12 was finally unveiled.  

5G is now added to all the phones so that consumers are able to upload faster and quicker. Apple also collaborated with Verizon and Hans Vestberg, chairman and CEO of Verizon, to describe the benefits of 5G during the event. The speed is now double that of the original upload and the fastest 5G on Earth. Both the capacity and the range of places that enable users to use 5G, such as NFL football fields, will increase. 

The iPhone 12 has two flat edges that allow the aluminum and glass to be more stable. Apple has decided to add a ceramic shield, which is a special type of glass that has 4 times better drop resistance. Furthermore, Apple went beyond its original OLED Display to use the Super Retina XDR display. According to Apple, it is much brighter and has a better contrast ratio when compared to all of its previous models. All of the new iPhones will be getting Apple’s own A14 chip, which Apple claims, is the fastest chip. All of them have a new design that is flatter with aluminum edges, almost like the iPad. 

Interestingly, Apple has decided to make a smaller and more compact version of the iPhone 12 called the iPhone 12 mini. Besides the size, since the mini will be 5.4″ (diagonal) and the iPhone 12 will be 6.1″, it is hard to say that there is a difference between the two. iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 will have two cameras: wide and ultra-wide. To add on, the iPhone 12 is “11% lighter, 15% smaller, 16% lighter” than the past models. They are available in the colors black, white, product red, green, and blue.  The price of the iPhone 12 mini will start at $699, while the iPhone 12 will starting at $799.

Environment/Magsafe

A keyword mentioned in the October event was the environment. Apple stated how there are many pre-existing chargers in the world and how many of them are thrown away. This led the company to remove all the chargers that came with the phone so that they could protect the environment. Now, consumers have to use their preexisting chargers or purchase extra chargers for themselves. By 2030, Apple claims that it will have “Net Zero Climate Impact.” Furthermore, in order to help slow down climate change, Apple has decided to add magnetic chargers and accessories called Magsafe. Consumers would have to see how comfortable they really are. As a result of this, the new iPhone boxes are inevitably smaller in size. 

iPhone 12 Pro

The iPhone 12 Pro comes in two forms: the iPhone 12 Pro and the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Compared to the iPhone 12, the iPhone 12 Pro has an extra camera, which is called the telephoto camera. The iPhone 12 Pro models contain everything that the iPhone 12 has. The iPhone 12 Pro will be  6.1″ and the iPhone 12 Pro Max will be 6.7.” They are larger, have longer battery life, and will be available in Pacific Blue, Gold, Silver, and Graphite.

With Apple’s new ideas and designs, there have been mixed opinions about their new products. The next Apple Event will be held on November 10th at 1 p.m. EST.
