It’s that time of the year… prom season has begun! Girls are rushing to buy their dresses, jacking their mother’s jewelry, and planning their hair and nail appointments while the germs prepare their promposals and go shopping for the prettiest corsages. The big event is just one day away, taking place on June 6 at The Rockleigh in Rockleigh, NJ. Though many are excited for the event, prom panic has taken over the minds of Tenafly High School seniors as their big day inches closer and closer.
Finding the perfect dress is no easy task. All different kinds of colors, brands, and styles to choose from, and yet nothing seems to be perfect. Lots of gals take to online shopping to find their dream dress while others go from boutique to boutique to find what they are looking for. This year the Sherri Hill dresses have caught the attention of many, and so has the color yellow, which has become very trendy for 2025. The gentlemen look into finding their tuxes and corsages for their dates. Many look into farmers’ markets, flower shops, and grocery stores to find the perfect flower.
No one wants to take on prom night alone. Students can easily ask anyone to be their plus one, and they can pop this question in a grandiose fashion: promposals. The promposal is an extravagant and fun method of inviting someone to prom. This type of invitation is often done using a poster board or an elaborate skit that is tailored to the interests of the individual being proposed to. This prom tradition is the most anticipated, as it is fun to see all the different couples going to prom together and to see the funny ideas they come up with.
Pre-prom activities are scheduled in the days leading up to the party. The hours before prom are a chance for students to get together and take photos to further capture the magic of the special day. People are renting decorations, hiring photographers, and preparing foods and refreshments for their pre-prom guests.
After a long night of dancing and screaming to your favorite songs, you might not feel ready to end the night just yet. Many host after-parties at different locations to continue celebrating through the night. Some after-parties happen at venues in the city while others like to have small gatherings at home with their friends. However you like to celebrate, after-parties are a great way to continue the fun into the late hours of the night.
After prom is over, it’s time for prom weekend. Many take road trips and overnight beach trips, while some just stay home and get their much needed rest after a crazy night.
The memories made during prom will always live on in the feeds of social media posts,
the polaroids hanging on the walls, and the hearts of the seniors as a look back at the end of a transformative and magical period for students.
