Authorities across several states in New England are investigating a pattern of suspicious deaths that could be linked as possible serial killings, raising panic, as the cases, which started in the beginning of 2025, are still unsolved.
The number of bodies found across Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts continues to grow.
“Over the last two months, 10 bodies or sets of human remains have been located in New Haven, Norwalk, Groton, Killingly, and now Rock Hill, Connecticut; Foster, Rhode Island; and Framingham, Plymouth, Springfield, and now Taunton, Massachusetts,” Fox News reported.

The most recent discovery occurred on Friday, April 25, when WLNE reported a body found in a wooded area off Chandler Avenue in Taunton, Massachusetts. No information on the person’s identity has been released.
Two days later, on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at 8:53 a.m., another body was recovered from the Connecticut River in Rocky Hill.
“The Rocky Hill Police Department received a report from a boater on the Connecticut River regarding a body in the water near the shoreline south of Ferry Park,” Fox News reported. Once the officers arrived, they confirmed that the body was deceased. “The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner was notified and responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.” As of now, the identity of the person and the cause of death remain unknown.

On April 22, another body was found dead near the Riverfront bike path in Springfield, Massachusetts.
“The Hampden District Attorney’s Office told 22 News that police were called at around 8 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22, to the 1500 block of Hall of Fame Avenue for a report of an unresponsive person near the bike path,” according to WWLP.com. “The woman died shortly after and has been identified as 45-year-old Meggan Meredith.” The case remains unsolved and is actively being investigated as homicide.
In a Fox News video, Dr. Peter Valentin, chair of the Forensic Science Department at the University of New Haven and specialist in crime scene investigation, commented on the series of cases. He noted that seven sets of remains have been found in just two months and expressed concern that more may be discovered. He also thinks there is a possibility that multiple offenders might be committing similar crimes across different locations.
Despite what people on social media think, law enforcement agencies remain cautious about drawing conclusions too quickly.
According to Fox News, Hampden County District Attorney Anthony Gullini said that his investigators “are actively working every lead and deploying every available resource [and] at this time, there is no indication that these incidents are connected to each other.”
While officials urge the public to avoid jumping to conclusions, the condensed geography and the short time frame between the deaths have sparked concern among people. Whether the result of coincidence, criminal trends, or something more threatening, the crimes are yet to be solved, leaving questions unanswered as of now.
