Bright lights, pulsing beats, and Tate McRae’s powerful voice filled the arena, captivating every fan from her first note to her last. She did it again. The rising pop star, who continuously surprises her fans, showed up and proved herself to be more than a singer. A dancer, a voice, a desire for more, and most of all, a performer. I could feel the electric sounds jolt through the air as thousands of fans, just like me, sang along and made the most of the moment. Once the night was over, McRae had us yearning to go back.
The doors of Madison Square Garden opened at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 18. Pop singer Alessi Rose came on at 7:30 p.m. She put on a remarkable opening performance to get the crowd ready for the real reason people bought tickets—Tate McRae. Some fans were disappointed with McRae’s timing, since she appeared later than usual, but she made it up to fans very quickly with her first song, “Miss Possessive,” which easily lifted the spirit of the audience. The concert ended around 10:20 p.m. when Tate closed with her new single, “Tit for Tat.”
Almost everyone who attended this show gave positive, praising feedback about McRae, commending her for her exceptional dance skills, impressive choreography, and strong stage presence. Additionally, fans have been raving about McRae’s style, as she wore five different outfits throughout the night. Her usual stage style consists of leopard print, mesh tops, micro shorts, or custom T8 jerseys with her initials. She also tends to wear Adidas tracksuits, which has started to become a trend among her fans.
The concert featured a dynamic set list of both upbeat hits and slower, piano-based songs, backed by impressive visual and special effects like smoke, sparks, and lights.
“The pop star has a daunting stage setup, made up of two levels and a massive catwalk complete with an extensive end platform,” Jodi Chung, a fan and reporter, said. “It seemed hardly a challenge for McRae, nevertheless, as I witnessed her dominate every single inch of that tremendous stage.”
In addition to McRae blowing her fans away, she has also proven to impress other stars. During an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Taylor Swift praised Tate McRae’s song “Tit for Tat,” saying she had it on “full volume, over and over again, on repeat.” Many believe that McRae will continue to grow and become one of the greats; her show on October 18 was just another stepping stone to success.
