As Valentine’s Day is approaching, many franchises, including Dunkin’, have started to release their holiday menu. Dunkin’s new limited menu was released on January 28, and will be available to customers up until February 17. The Valentine’s Day menu is the most popular, and for a reason: throughout the season, all donuts are filled with jelly or Boston kreme or lightly garnished with sprinkles. But the donuts aren’t the only offerings that are getting the public’s attention, as Dunkin’ also made it clear it would be releasing sweet beverages, including new lattes, refreshers, and more. Many people have expressed different opinions on this new menu at Dunkin’, including students and staff at Tenafly High School.
“I tried the brownie batter donut, and it was so good,” Hannah Benowitz (’27) said. “The filling inside made it a 10 out of 10, and I definitely would get it again. I would try the heart-shaped donut without the filling in it. I highly recommend the brownie batter donut, as you can see there is a pattern here.” Dunkin’s most popular Valentine’s Day item has been the Brownie Batter Classic Donut, which is stuffed with brownie-batter flavored buttercreme topped with chocolate icing and sprinkles. The Brownie Batter Donut is so popular that Anthony Epter, the vice president of menu innovation at Dunkin’ said on news.dunkindonuts.com, “Brownie Batter is the kind of donut our guests mark their calendar for—rich, chocolate-forward and undeniably Dunkin’.” Another popular item is the Cupid’s Choice, which is stuffed with Boston Kreme and dressed with strawberry icing and fun sprinkles.
The rest of the menu keeps a loving and warm vibe without overdoing it, especially the sweet pink drinks that feel perfect for February. There are three new Refreshers: Heart Eyes Daydream (Strawberry Dragonfruit Refresher with blueberry flavour, oatmilk, sweet cold foam), Chocolate Covered Strawberry Daydream (Strawberry Dragonfruit with oat milk and chocolate cold foam), and Blush Spritz (Strawberry Dragon fruit topped with sparkling water).
The Valentine’s drinks have even caught the attention of some teachers. “I have not tried the new Dunkin’ Valentine’s Day menu,” Michelle Roux, a math teacher here at Tenafly High School said, “but, I want to try the new Chocolate Covered Strawberry Daydream Refresher,” a limited-edition refresher that has been getting a lot of attention this Valentine’s season.
If you’re not into sweet drinks, espresso is more your lane then. There are two Cloud Lattes: Toxic Ex-Presso (mocha and raspberry, topped with chocolate cold foam) and Sweet On You (caramel and coconut, topped with sweet cold foam). Matcha also gets its moment with The Perfect Matcha, as well as the Buff Chai which contains Protein Milk that has 15 grams of protein for that extra love in your muscles.
Dunkin’ is dealing a Reward-only perk throughout the love-filled season. Refreshers are up first for their boots for points (3x points from February 1-7), then espresso drinks get the same treatment on Valentine’s Day on February 14th. We can’t forget National Protein Day, February 27, 3x points on protein beverages. Finally later in the month, there’s a simple MUNCHKIN deal: $2 for a 10-count with any beverage purchase from February 22-28th.
So yes, you can do your traditional Valentine’s Day celebration by writing a card for your loved one. But sometimes romance is best served in donut form, and a couple Heart Eyes Daydream refreshers get the message across just like The Perfect Matcha.
