Echo Leadership Positions Open for 2019-2020

Mr. Whitehead, Advisor

Applications for leadership positions in The Echo will be accepted between now and Thursday, May 23rd at 3:30 PM. The following positions will need to be filled. Interested applicants should email Mr. Whitehead, the Echo Advisor, for an application. Please specify the position for which you would like to apply.

Editor-in-Chief

The Editor-in-Chief, in consultation with the Advisor, determines what gets published in The Echo. He or she actively pitches story ideas, creates meeting agendas, runs meetings, edits stories in Draft Mode, and works with the Advisor in assigning, editing, and publishing stories in the paper. The applicant should, ideally, be a current Echo member in good standing with a proven track record of writing and editing stories and attending Echo meetings.

Managing Editor

The Managing Editor helps to oversee the paper’s daily publishing operations. The Managing Editor reports to the Editor-in-Chief and supervises writers and other staff members. He or she will assist in posting breaking news items on our scroll, in ensuring that sports scores and polls are current, and in editing stories in Draft Mode. The applicant should, ideally, be a current Echo member in good standing with a proven track record of writing and editing stories and attending Echo meetings.

Sports Editor

The Sports Editor’s main task is to assign, write, and edit stories covering THS athletics and world sports. The Sports Editor reports to the Editor-in-Chief. He or she will be expected to write, assign, and edit sports-related stories for the paper. Prior experience writing sports stories is a plus. The applicant should, ideally, be a current Echo member in good standing with a proven track record of writing and editing sports stories and attending Echo meetings.

Social Media Editor

The Social Media Editor is in charge of maintaining the Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts of The Echo. This editor must be responsible in posting only appropriate Echo-related items for the purpose of promoting or extending stories. Experience with social media is a pre-requisite.
