As the month of October and Halloween are officially over, with the recent start of the month of November, Thanksgiving and the holiday season are approaching rapidly. With the new, annual excitement for the holiday season, many individuals are finding themselves already preparing for Christmas, which doesn’t start until after Thanksgiving. Many houses are being decorated with Christmas lights and decorations, Christmas commercials are being broadcasted on many television screens, Christmas music is played in many cars, and more. It seems that the Christmas spirit has come a month earlier this year as it’s starting to surround us everywhere. However, is it all too early? Or, is it right on time?
As a Christmas lover, it’s definitely not too early. As long as you don’t forget about Thanksgiving, there’s nothing wrong with spreading a little Christmas cheer at this time of year as it only makes the holiday season even more fun and exciting. As a result, I’ve already started to listen to Christmas music, gracing my ears with some of the all-time favorites such as “Last Christmas” by Wham!, “All I Want For Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey, “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” by Andy Williams, and many more. These joyful songs render my daily morning drives to and from school much more enjoyable and listening to them only makes me more excited for the Christmas season—which I feel is already starting now. As someone who once used to start listening to Christmas music at the beginning of December, I can say that starting to listen to it the day after Halloween, which I’ve done for the last few years now, is a much better idea as it gives you a perfect amount of time, from the beginning of November to December 26th, to enjoy every Christmas song and even discover new ones along the way. Prior to this, I always felt that 25 days of listening to Christmas music was too short of a time period to fully appreciate every song, especially the annual favorites.
Furthermore, if you drive around the different areas of Tenafly, you’ll see a significant number houses already decorated with bright, festive Christmas lights, wreaths, lighted snowmen, reindeer sets, and more, which simply shows that the holiday spirit is starting to pervade our beloved town, too.
Lastly, if you switch through the different channels on your television, you’ll see almost every commercial painted with a Christmas sentiment. Even though this is mainly for marketing purposes, you can’t help feeling like Christmas is coming much sooner than you think it is.
With the joyful Christmas music, the festive houses, and the entertaining commercials, the Christmas season has already started and you can’t help but feel extremely excited for it. However, this doesn’t mean that Thanksgiving will be forgotten; instead, it will be further electrified and even combined with the holiday spirit.
